Ortrun Stanzel lives in Berlin and has been working as a freelance artist in the fields of contemporary theater dance and performance since 2008. At the age of 16 she won the German, European and World Championships in ballroom dancing with the team of 1.TC Ludwigsburg. She studied theater dance in Berlin and deepened her studies of Modern dance techniques in New York. After her return, she specialized in contemporary dance, creating dance pieces and solo performances. Her artistic work is/was funded by the Künstlerinnenprogramm des Senats für Kultur und Europa and the Fonds für darstellende Künste.
In addition to her artistic work, she completed her basic studies in medicine as part of a naturopath training and developed a concept for applied anatomy for dancers, which she teaches at vocational training programs for stage dance and supports professional dancers 1:1 in pain management. She teaches contemporary dance, graham technique, composition and partnering at theatres, universities and professional training programs internationally. As a choreographer, dramaturgical consultant, director and production assistant, she supports dance, theatre and film productions and is a volunteer on the board of directors of the GEDOK Gallery Berlin.
